Can't wait to perform Brahms' first symphony on April 20! Brahms spent over 20 years to complete writing this piece. As of 1855 he had established his career as a composer but still did not feel comfortable taking such a big task of writing a symphony. After Beethoven, who could write one? -- that's how Brahms always felt.
So here it is (the last movement) -- long awaited symphony, completed in 1876.

During my 6-week adventure in Europe last summer, I got to visit an apartment where Brahms worked on this symphony! This is near beautiful Heidelberg, Germany. Thanks to my friends, Chinatsu and Sebastian for taking me out there!
From this apartment Brahms went out to take a walk and sometimes swim in the River Necker. He might have seen this (a view of Heidelberg, from the Heidelberg Castle).
So Brahms symphony No.1 and piano concerto No.2 with the Greater Bridgeport Symphony on April 20. Come see us!
