A sought-after violinist, Chie Yoshinaka Matejek has been performing and teaching all over the United States and abroad. The highlight of recent seasons includes Brahms' Concerto for Violin and Cello with Micha Haran (the former principal cello of the Israel Philharmonic) and the ABS-CBN Philharmonic in Quezon City, Philippines and Baroque concerti with St. Paul's Episcopal Church's chamber orchestra in Greenwich, Connecticut. Chie premiered "Western Suite" by Jonathan David Russell as a soloist with the Hilltop Music Collective Orchestra. A winner of the Lillian Fuchs Memorial Chamber Music Competition, her solo and chamber music engagements have taken her throughout the United States, Graz (Austria), Tokyo and Yokohama (Japan).
Also an avid orchestral player, she has appeared as a guest concertmaster with numerous orchestras such as Lake George Chamber Orchestra. With the AIMS Festival Orchestra she performed in Steirmark region of Austria in 2012 and 2014. She has performed regularly with Civic Orchestra of Chicago, Northwest Indiana Symphony and New York Asian Symphony, and is currently performing as a regular member with Greenwich Symphony and Ridgefield Symphony (Connecticut).
Chie has served on faculty at music schools, festivals and youth orchestras such as Chicago Youth Symphony. Recently she was invited to give a master class at Fine Arts and Music in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. In 2013, she was on artist-faculty of Opusfest Antipolo: the International Classical Music Camp in the Philippines where she taught violin, viola and chamber music. As a Visiting Mentor of Orchestra of the Filipino Youth, she was part of the OFY tour to Kuala Lumpur to perform at Child Aid Asia Malaysia 2016.
She is a graduate of Manhattan School of Music (B.M.) and New York University (M.A.) where she received the Graduate Education Scholarship and Kappa Delta Pi membership. Her major teachers include Neil Weintrob and Peter Winograd.
